Massage therapy rules and regulations are different for each state. For instance, states vary in the number of required hours of education and in the exams that are accepted for licensure. Some states will accept either of the NCBTMB’s exams as well as the MBLEx, while others will accept only one of the exams. Some states, such as Ohio, New York and Hawaii have their own state exam.
